The Idaho Alpine Club is hosting a hike at Craters of the Moon, on the Wilderness Trail, South of the big
loop. The hike will be on Saturday, June 5. We will meet at the Westside Walmart (on Utah) at 8:00 a.m.,
parking in front of the Garden Center. According to the rangers, the wildflowers should be in bloom at
this time. The fee for parking is $20, unless you have a National Parks pass. We could car pool to save
expenses and gas. Please bring poles, water, snacks, jackets, sun screen and wear sturdy boots. The first
part of the trail is over lava rock.
The total trail, including the Broken Top Loop, is 10.6 miles, but we plan on only doing the 8 mile out and
back trail, which is relatively flat. If you prefer, you may choose your own mileage for this hike. If you are
planning on going, please contact Susan McKinley at susan@idahoalpineclub.org.
