Our presenters for this month are two of our IAC members, Joe Groberg and Cesar Rojas. We’re excited to hear about this adventure from Joe and Cesar.
The Incas built roads throughout the Andes where they lived and connected them to the Pacific Ocean and the western fringes of the Amazon jungle, where Machu Picchu is. Much of this system still exists and is gradually being restored not only in the popular route from Urubamba, Peru to Machu Picchu, but also throughout their empire (which stretched from southern Colombia to central Chile). The presentation will describe and show the system of highways and give details on the route to Machu Picchu.
